EL CHÉ

PRIVATE COMISSION | SOLD - LONDON

50x50" - Indian Ink | Distressed Carboard | Wood Fixed | 1/1

Gathering inspiration from a visit to Havana, Cuba in 2018, volk was captivated by the authentic and untouched nature of the city. Surrounded by colourful, distressed and aged buildings, the presence of monuments and remaining large symbolisms of communism stands as the pinnacle of the experience.

In order to depict the damaged and outdated image taken from Cuba, volk uses distressed cardboard mounted on a wooden frame as his medium to recreate the renowned Ché portrait in dripping indian ink.

NO PRESSURE, NO DIAMONDS

PRIVATE COMMISSION | SOLD - NEW YORK (DIAMOND DISTRICT, GIA BUILDING), USA

Indian Ink, Acrylic, Graphite | Fine Card Paper | 1/1

Commissioned to one of the largest diamond dealers in the heart of New York (GIA Building), this unique piece was created to illustrate the complexity of the precious stones anatomy through the form of a “blue-print”. Following the preparation of the blue background layered with acrylic, extensive research and information gathering was done to understand the fine details of a diamond. Sourced from the official GIA report, it was important to translate the “number of complex factors considered when evaluating a diamonds cut grade”.

CREATION OF VOLK

PRIVATE COMISSION | SOLD - LONDON

8 Natural Wood Skateboard Decks | Wall Mounted | 1/1

Private commission created for the founder of a London based menswear brand that focuses on presenting collections that consist of streetwear and modern elegance. Inspired by the fashion brands clash of styles, ''The Creation Of Volk" aims to depict a juxtaposing clash between the renaissance and modern street art eras. This fusion is evident via the pieces medium, colours and paradoxical additions (tattoos) to renowned works from the 16th century.

Floating above ground with the help of hidden skateboard deck mounts, the piece is hand painted (acrylic, indian ink and graphite) on a customised background of pages from the biography of Michael Angelo.
